Personal logo design project for a Family Crest of my dad's side of family.

Created while following Aaron Draplin's Skillshare class for Logo Design.

 

While most family crests are European in origin, I wanted to put a very Filipino spin on existing conventions that most associate with family crests. That required me to delve into some traditional designs that Datu (akin to a Lord or Chieftain) adorn.

For instance, the shield in the middle of the logo is representative of traditional designs, while the patterns on either side are derived from tattoos that Datu carry. The aim of these decisions was to create something cohesive, but unmistakably Filipino.
