Imago Coffee Roasters

What started off as as practice in lettering became a logo/brand design project for an imaginary coffee company. I merged two ideas that seemed compelling in their own right, but even more so together - Renaissance themes and Third Wave/Specialty Coffee.

To iterate on my design process, I collected some reference images, creating a mood board. Combining the elements in the final logo became much more of a challenge than I thought, but I found that the placement of text above the illustration balanced everything in a hierarchical way.
